Waves

Waves

Mom and Dad went for their honeymoon to Goa in 1993, this was before it was cool and  a millennial trend. Both newlyweds didn’t have a clue of how to swim and had ventured in to the sea when a big wave came and took both of them with it.

The only thing from that incident that Papa remembers is that when they were tumbling under water not for a moment did they leave each other’s hand. Luckily they came out of it without a scratch just a lot of salt water up their nose and the sea that day became a symbol their love and both of them swore they would not let their inability to swim or now my mom’s fear of water find its way into their children. I was barely 2 when I was thrown into a swimming pool on a holiday in Jaipur.

This shirt symbolizes that love and fear – it is completely hand stitched and has not once been touched by a machine symbolizing an unbreakable bond. The hand done embroidery flows like the rhythm of waves to never make it look ferocious and is made in the softest highest grade cotton.

I can almost hear the sweet sound of the sea and feel the breeze on my face.
